What causes odor and how do enzymes work?Odor can be caused by many things, but the byproduct of bacteria breaking down substances can be one source that effects the home and industrial environment. Shoe and foot odor, for example, is caused by the combination of a dark damp environment where bacteria and fungi can grow and the bacteria interacting with it to produce a strong odor. Landfills and compositing sites can have a wide range of odor producing problems. Hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans are two of the odor causing problems, but bacteria is also present, breaking down the solids to organic matter and producing unpleasant smells. Left alone, bacteria will break down on it's own over a period of time, but the right enzymes can be the catalyst that speeds up the process. Not all enzymes are the same, only specialized enzymes can break down the odor causing bacteria and our product carries seven different enzymes to enable it to respond to a variety of odor problems. |
